Recycling center

Recycling drop-off centers are for everyone: Whether you're a City resident or live in a house or apartment, we encourage you to use the drop-off centers.





1 - North

Metro North Mall, 400 N.W. Barry Road
(northwest parking lot)

2 - South

Wal-Mart Supercenter parking lot, 9051 Hillcrest Road

3 - Environmental Campus - 4707 Deramus


Effective June 1, 2008
Hours of operation change to the following:
Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Disposal of Household Hazardous Waste can be arranged by appointment.

Materials accepted at drop-off centers:
  • Clear glass
  • Brown glass
  • Green glass
  • Aluminum cans
  • Tin
  • Office paper
  • Mixed paper
  • Newspaper
  • Magazines
  • Press board (cereal and food boxes)
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Plastics #1 & #2
  • Toner and inkjet cartridges

    Electronics recycling
    The surplus exchange provides electronics recycling in the Kansas City metro area.

    Volunteer
    Recycling centers are operated by Bridging the Gap with the help of hundreds of volunteers. To volunteer, call (816) 561-1090 or visit its Web site.
