|South Patrol Property Crimes|
Hrs: 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday thru Friday
The South Patrol Division, Property Crimes Unit consists of a sergeant and six detective positions. Detectives within the unit are responsible for investigating crimes occurring within the South Patrol Division Boundaries. The sergeant and detectives are assigned to the South Patrol Division Station and report directly to the commanders of South Patrol Division.
The detectives investigate the following types of crimes: burglary, stealing, auto theft and property damage, possessing and receiving stolen property, locating, identifying and recovering stolen property as well as presenting cases to the Jackson County and Kansas City, Missouri, Prosecutors' Offices for prosecution. The detectives also work with other units of the Kansas City Police Department in addition to other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to investigate crimes crossing outside of the South Patrol Division boundaries.
The detectives and sergeant assigned to the South Property Crimes Unit possess years of investigative experience and policing fundamentals they use during the course of their casework. The detectives currently assigned to the South Patrol Division Property Crimes Unit have investigative backgrounds in Traffic Investigations, Narcotics Investigations, Traffic Enforcement, Internal Affairs Unit and Homeland Security.
