Summary of Public Meetings

Dog Park Task Force Advisory Committee   
The advisory committee consists of a diverse group of 15 members; two representatives from each councilmatic district plus a representative from W.O.O.F. (Well Organized Offleash Friends), a representative from D.I.G. (Dogpark Improvement Group), and the committee chair. Members include:

  • Chairman: Mel Solomon
  • 1st District: Linda Cochran and Laura Devine
  • 2nd District: Katie Campbell and Carolyn Vellar
  • 3rd District: Mary Mittenfelner and Suzanne Niemeyer
  • 4th District: Mary Mountain, DVM and Holly Miller
  • 5th District: Dr. Wayne Steckelberg and Leslie McLendon
  • 6th District: Tom Wyrsch and Gary Amerine
  • W.O.O.F Representative: Jeremy Schlicher
  • D.I.G. Representative: Paul Randall

The task force will research best practices and review citizens' input in order to make recommendations to the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners for the development of a system-wide masterplan for off-leash dog parks in Kansas City, Mo.
