Q: How do I find out who is currently being held in custody at the Municipal Correctional Institution?

A. You may pull up the most current alphabetical roster of inmates in custody or you may call the institution at (816) 513-9600.

Note: In order to access the alphabetical roster, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader.


Q: When do inmates leave for court?

A: Inmates going to court will leave at 8:30 a.m. and may remain in court until 4 p.m. Court results can be usually be obtained after 4 p.m.


Q: How do I put money in an inmate's account?

A: We accept money orders only. You can bring it into the institution any day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. You also may mail the money order directly to the inmate at the institution's address (8100 Ozark Road, Kansas City, MO 64129).


Q: If an inmate is to be released today, what time will he leave?

A: The inmate will be transported to the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department at 1201 Locust St. and dropped anytime after 10 a.m., provided he has no holds or warrants for any other agencies. If he has active warrants or holds for other agencies, he will be held at the institution until the requesting agency picks him up.


Q: An inmate has my property. Can I come in and pick it up?

A: Only certain property such as money, keys or identification may be picked up Monday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. No electronic equipment such as cell phones or pagers may be picked up unless it can be proven with a bill of sale that the equipment rightfully belongs to the party requesting it.


Q: Can you tell me about your visitation policies?
  1. Visitation is only allowed on Sunday.
  2. Each inmate may have up to two visitors.
  3. Each inmate is only allowed one 15-minute visit per week.
  4. Visitation is "non-contact."
  5. Visitation appointments must be made each week for the following Sunday.
  6. Visitation appointments are only taken by phone between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday (except for holidays).
  7. All visitors are checked each week for outstanding warrants. If any outstanding warrants are present, you will not be allowed to visit.

Visitation times: 8:30 a.m., 8:50 a.m., 9:10 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 9:50 a.m., 10:10 a.m., 10:30 a.m. (men only), 10:50 a.m. (men only), 12:30 p.m., 12:50 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 1:50 p.m., 2:10 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 2:50 p.m.
