The Regulated Industries Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department oversees compliance of a number of regulated businesses (liquor control, adult entertainment and vehicles for hire) through the enforcement of City ordinances and state laws. This division coordinates activities closely with the Police, Fire, Health, and City Planning and Development departments to ensure those businesses, which are unique in nature, comply in all aspects with the law to ensure the health and safety of our residents.

The Regulated Industries Division is responsible for the following:

  • Liquor (server permits and establishments licenses)
  • Catering license
  • Sidewalk café license
  • Picnic permits (for nonprofit organizations)
  • Adult entertainment (individual permits and establishment licenses)
  • Dance halls
  • Carnivals/motor raceways
  • Nude modeling and semi-nude body painting studios
  • Taxi cabs/delivery service
  • Sightseeing vehicles (including horse-drawn carriages on the Plaza)
  • Processing time varies on applications. Contact the Regulated Industries Division well in advance of the time the license is needed.

    Our goal: To ensure all of the legal provisions and technical requirements set forth in Chapters 10, 12, 41, 42 and 76 of the administrative code are complied with, thereby safeguarding the health, safety and well-being of the public and sustaining the livability and vitality of neighborhoods.
