The Kansas City Youth Commission strives to mobilize and encourage the city's youth to become engaged in the civic arena and promote positive programs and activities in the community. The commission gives people ages 12-23 the opportunity to be the official youth voice in the City’s decision-making process.
Students were selected as youth commissioners to participate in our local government, giving youth a role and voice in the City's policy and budget decisions. These youth also serve on the commission committees.
Mission: The mission of the Kansas City Youth Commission is to unite Kansas City youth and build a bridge between youth and civic arenas. To utilize our various committees to identify positive solutions, to effectively address concerns and issues facing the youth.
Vision: We seek the unity of adult and youth through activities which promote equality and community. We implement measures which encourage civic duty, participation and awareness. Inclusion is a fundamental underlying value considered in all decisions and actions. To bridge the gap, we must first build the foundation.
The Kansas City Youth Commission meets every second and fourth Monday at 4:30 p.m. in City Hall, 10th floor.
