Dear resident:
Thank you for your subscription to my monthly e-message. I enjoy sharing the latest Kansas City is doing to better serve its citizens.
Kansas City Biotechnology Center
The City is partnering with the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City to create a new biotechnology center with office space and laboratories for advanced research and development. The new Kansas City Biotechnology Center will continue work already started to position the area as a leader in life science research and business.
As a private-public partnership, the project also is sponsored by the Missouri Development Finance Board, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the Kansas City Industrial Development Authority and the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority.
KCI Area Development
This month, Trammel Crow was named master developer for the KCI Business Airpark.
As master developer, Trammel Crow is responsible for developing and attracting tenants to the 640 acres located on the southeast corner of Kansas City International Airport.
This exciting project will maximize Kansas City’s central location to establish KCI as an international transportation, shipping, manufacturing and commercial development hub.
Pool hours extended for heat relief
With the extremely hot summer temperatures reaching above 100 degrees on several days, the City's public pools are extending their hours. Major outdoor pools will be open every day through Sept. 4, junior pools will be open seven days a week until Aug. 20, and spray grounds will be open through the end of September.
Locate a swimming pool or spray ground near you.
Construction begins on Power and Light District
Last month, construction began on the $850 million Power and Light District, with the City officially transferring the real estate to The Cordish Company. The City sold the last of its downtown development bonds and completed its portion of the development agreement, which includes property acquisition, infrastructure installation, environmental abatement, demolition and site preparation.
Find out more about downtown construction and street closures.
MAST recognized as “the best in Missouri”
The Metropolitan Ambulance Services Trust was named Emergency Medical Service of the Year by the Missouri Emergency Medical Services Association.
MAST is the only one out of 100 urban ambulance systems nationwide accredited by the Commission of the Accreditation on Ambulance Services. MAST works closely with the City's Fire Department and Health Department to protect our residents.
As always, I appreciate your feedback as a citizen. Please feel free to e-mail questions and comments to my office at Insight@kcmo.org.
Sincerely,
Wayne A. Cauthen, City Manager
