    Budget supports clean City

We recently submitted the proposed fiscal year 2006-2007 budget to the City Council.

The focus of this budget is on creating a clean city that will provide opportunities for economic development, neighborhood revitalization, crime deterrence and stronger infrastructure, resulting in an overall better quality of life for residents.

The budget places a priority on returning basic services to neighborhoods and improving service delivery by expanding service hours to make services more accessible to citizens. Find more information on the proposed budget.

Please attend the public hearing on the budget to provide your input in the budget adoption process. The public hearing is Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the 26th floor of City Hall, 414 E. 12th St.

    Participate in our survey

As part of our plan to expand service hours to make services more accessible to citizens, the City is conducting a survey to help us identify citizens' needs.

Youth programs prepare young people for success

The City of Kansas City, Mo., seeks to provide jobs for 1,000 young people through its Summer Youth Employment Program.

Area employers can support these efforts by hosting a booth at the second annual Kansas City's Bright Future Symposium and Hiring Fair on April 29.

All participating companies will have the opportunity to interview and immediately employ hundreds of prospective young people between the ages of 14 and 25 who have completed a mandatory eight hours of career readiness training.

Employers can register here and students can register here to be a part of Kansas City’s Bright Future Symposium.

The Youth Advocacy Office is responsible for coordinating the activities of young people in ways that will benefit them in civic matters, academics, the workforce and social events.

Never before has the City Manager's Office undertaken such a comprehensive approach to reaching out to our city's young people and preparing them for success.

To learn more about these plans, visit the Youth Advocacy Office online for information about the many youth development resources and activities available.

    Track capital improvement projects online

New online features help you find information on every stage of capital improvement projects managed by the Capital Improvements Management Office and Public Improvements Advisory Committee. Track projects of any size or access maps to learn about individual projects or how they fit into the City's overall plan.

    Sincerely,

    Wayne A. Cauthen, City Manager
    City of Kansas City, Mo.
