City Council passes street plate ordinance
I am pleased to share that the City Council set measures to limit street metal plate permits to 30 days, modify permit fees and establish requirements for placing these metal plates into streets. These changes will go into effect Sept. 1. It's important that we have set criteria for these metal plates in order to maintain our streets to a satisfactory level for residents. Read the ordinance.

Parks and Recreation Department installs solar lighting in shelters
The Parks and Recreation Department recently installed solar powered lighting in shelters at Spring Valley Park, East 27th Street and Woodland Avenue, and Platte Purchase Park, Northwest 100th Street and Platte Purchase Drive. Safety, health and cost savings were factors in the decision to install the solar panels. One 225-watt solar panel in each shelter powers two, energy saving compact fluorescents from dawn to dusk. The solar power lights fit with the City's commitment to conserving and enhancing the environment.
