Sister Cities celebrates 50 years

Sister Cities International promotes peace through mutual respect, understanding
and cooperation – one individual, one community at a time.

The City and the Sister City Association of Kansas City are supporting and promoting 50 local events in 2006 in honor of Sister Cities International’s 50th anniversary. These events will focus on

  • Arts and culture
  • Youth and education
  • Humanitarianism and economic development
  • Global citizenship

Sister Cities International's 50th anniversary
Mayor Kay Barnes and the City Council adopted on March 2 a resolution declaring 2006 as Sister Cities 50th anniversay year and saluting KC's Sister Cities program. Members of the Sister City Association of Kansas City joined the mayor in the Council Chamber.
