  • The City of Kansas City, Mo., has approximately 441active projects in construction, professional services, facility maintenance and general services. Of the 441active projects in the City, 171 of these projects were awarded with no assigned MWDBE goals. Therefore, the total number of active City projects with MWDBE goals is 270. The estimated value of these projects is $1,006,747,859.

    For the reporting period ending May 31, 2007, the City has received 129 prime contractor's monthly utilization reports out of a possible 270 projects or 47 percent of the total city projects that have MWBE goals assigned (129/270 = 472 percent). There were approximately 141 projects with no utilization reports received as of June 16, 2007. A detail report by project is attached.

    There are approximately 171 projects with no goals assigned with an estimated contract value of $52,254,386. Of the 171 projects with no goals, 143 projects are below the $300,000 threshold; the remaining 28 projects may have had limited opportunity for minority participation or the work was specialized, or the City department request a waiver. City ordinance requires no MWBE goals on construction projects less than $300,000, however, prevailing wage monitoring is still applicable on these projects.

    Workforce Diversity Monitoring Results - TIF and Selected City Projects

    ● Since Aug. 2005, the City Contract Compliance section has performed more than 848 onsite visits at various construction sites throughout the city.

    Sprint Arena:
    1. The project utilization goals are 18 percent minority and 8 percent female. The goals are expressed as a percentage of the total project work hours.
    2. The project utilization levels are 22 percent minority and 6 percent female with approximately 366,775 total hours worked on the project***.
