The City Civil Rights Ordinance requires that all vendors and contractors doing
business with the City of Kansas City, Mo., be Equal Opportunity Employers who
have Affirmative Action plans in place to hire minorities and women if they are
underutilized in the vendors and contractor's field of expertise. In order to
comply with the Affirmative Action Program of the Kansas City, Mo., civil rights
ordinance, you must submit the following for evaluation by the City:
- Companies with 25 or more employees must submit their company affirmative
action plan or complete the City's Affirmative
Action Program proposal in the form required by the Human Relations Department
or submit a letter or certificate of compliance with a governmentally (federal,
state, etc.) monitored Affirmative Action program.
- All companies regardless of the number of employees must complete the affirmative
action questionnaire and submit a current copy of their workforce breakdown.
Companies doing business with the city must have an approved vendor number.
In order to obtain a vendor number, obtain a bidder/vendor application from the General Services Department, and submit the completed
application to Brian Hernandez, Supplier Relations Coordinator, (816) 513-1598 or (816) 335-5864 or fax (816) 513-1156.
