Before your pool can be opened to the public, the following must be met.
- Pool is in good repair before cleaning and filling (no cracks, smooth surface, etc.)
- Gates are self-closing and self-latching
- Regulation fence is in good repair
- Signs are posted (including “No Lifeguard on Duty”, “No Diving”, pool rules, bather load, etc.)
- Telephone at poolside is operational
- “Emergency 911” sign is posted by telephone
- Emergency life saving equipment is provided and accessible (shepherd’s crook, ring buoy with rope, lifeline with floats)
- Standard first aid kit on premises
- Water quality test kit on premises
- Water pH is between 7.2 and 7.6
- Chlorine levels are between 1.0 and 3.0 ppm
- Bromine levels are between 2.0 and 6.0 ppm
- Chemical inline feeder is operational
- Pool water temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit or above
- Spa/hot tub water temperature is between 90 degrees F and 104 degrees F
- Steps, ladders and handrails are in good repair
- Depth markers are on deck and side walls of pool
- Operating records are current and legible.

Remember that most pools in the area open on or near Memorial Day weekend each year. Complete the list and schedule your appointment early to ensure a timely opening. |
