  • Joint Pandemic Status System
In preparation for a possible pandemic, the Health Department has developed a status system that monitors global, national and local conditions.

These conditions are determined globally by the World Health Organization and nationally by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Health Department reviews and interprets this global and national information and then determines the local status level. This local status is a simplified replication of the U.S. Federal Government Response Stages.

The status of each then dictates which section of the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Plan for Kansas City, Mo. (requires Adobe Acrobat) will be activated.

Please note: The Joint Pandemic Status System is meant to only serve for internal use by the Health Department in determining appropriate preparedness actions. Other organizations and the general public are invited to review/monitor the JPSS for informational use only.

The JPSS was last updated on March 21, 2008.
