The HIV Services Program administers federal, state, and City funds that provide medications and other services to persons infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This is accomplished through linkages to existing services as well as subcontracts with community agencies for additional services in the bistate region.

The HIV Services Program consists of the following sections:

Case Management is provided to HIV+ individuals residing in or seeking primary care in these counties: Platte, Clay, Clinton, Ray, Jackson, Cass, Bates, Henry, Benton, Johnson, and Lafayette in Missouri, and Leavenworth, Wyandotte, Johnson, and Miami in Kansas.  Case managers assess clients needs and assist them in accessing needed services, including primary care, medications, housing, food, mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, home health, durable medical equipment, nutritional supplements and dental care.  Case management services are available in 13 agencies throughout the area.  For more information call the Case Management Supervisor at (816) 513-6214.

Quality Management services include assessing client satisfaction of the listed services, evaluation of clients’medical care within Public Health Service (PHS) guidelines, and monitoring of subcontracted services.

For more information call the Quality Management Supervisor at 816-513-6231.

Contracts are awarded through the City Purchasing Division, City guidelines and procedures are followed and support Ryan White Services contracts.  When funding becomes available, a Request for Proposal (RFP) is advertised, bids are received and evaluated by a peer review process, and contracts are awarded.

Program Development assists in developing programs and policy for HIV prevention and care in the Kansas City Eligible Metropolitan Area (EMA).
