Who needs to apply for a temporary food service permit?
Any person or organization selling or giving food away to the public at a fixed location for a period of time not exceeding 14 consecutive days in conjunction with a single event.

Why do I need to apply?
Temporary permits are required by law. The City of Kansas City, Mo., Code of General Ordinances, Chapter 15, Article III, Section 9 states, "A temporary food service establishment shall comply with the requirements of this ordinance, except as otherwise provided in this chapter." Food served from temporary food service establishments is subject to the same potential contamination as that served in fixed food service establishments as well as the additional potential for contamination resulting from specific conditions associated with temporary establishments.

    How do I apply?

    1. Contact the Food Protection Program at the Health Department at (816) 513-6315.
    2. Complete the permit application 30 days prior to the event.
    3. Pay the appropriate fee by check or money order made payable to the City Treasurer.
    1-day operation $50
    2-day operation $75
    3-14 day operation $150
    Non-profit organization $25
    4. The permit will be delivered at the time of the inspection if all required items are in place and operational.
