  • Overview

Safety Street is a partnership between the City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department and the Kansas City Children's Assistance Network (KC CAN!) to provide an interactive environment where children can learn basic safety and injury prevention. It includes a simulated street scene, complete with a school bus, cross-walk signals, train tracks, driveway, sidewalks, and picnic area, and a classroom for when the weather is less pleasent.

Classes on bus, motor vehicle, bicycle, pedestrian, fire, gun, water, and handwashing/germ safety and on poisoning prevention are available free of charge at Safety Street. Safety Street is located at the corner of 24th Terrace and Campbell, right in the middle of Hospital Hill, between Truman Medical Center and the Health Department.
