Groundbreaking held for St. John Corridor project

On the morning of July 25, the Capital Improvements Management Office, in cooperation with the Kansas City Parks & Recreation Department, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction for the St. John Avenue Corridor streetscape improvements project.

This project focuses on the section of St. John Avenue from North Brighton Avenue to North Hardesty Avenue along Budd Park. Planned improvements include widened sidewalks, new curbs and light poles. The project's design was completed by Brian Clark + Associates and is being constructed by Mega Industries.

City officials, including First District Councilwoman Deb Hermann and Councilman Bill Skaggs, local residents and community leaders were in attendance. The St. John Ave. corridor streetscape is one in a series of capital improvement projects located in Kansas City's historic Northeast district.
