CIMO
projects are capital projects that have cleared the planning and
funding stages and are ready for design and construction. CIMO is
responsible for the hiring of a design consultant, the development of
design plans, obtaining right-of-way (if necessary), communicating project milestones, especially associated with
construction work, the hiring of contractor(s) and delivering projects
into construction and completion.
Once a project is
complete, it is delivered back to the owning City department, i.e.
Public Works, for maintenance.
CIMO's
current project portfolio includes more than 300 projects, which total
about $1.2 billion in infrastructure improvements and
development in Kansas City.
CIMO also manages the public infrastructure
component of Kansas City's Power and Light district – the
nine-block entertainment district located downtown, as well as the
Sprint Center, the Liberty Memorial Museum Expansion and the Kansas
City Zoo improvements.
Project information can be found through CIMO's Public
Access Link or the Public Improvements Advisory Council's tracking system.
