Council members tour street improvement project at 75th Street and
State Line Road
On the morning of July
17, 2006, Councilmembers Jim Glover,
4th District-at-Large, and George Blackwood, 4th
District, toured the street improvement project underway at 75th
Street and State Line
Road. The tour, organized by the Capital Improvements Management Office
and led
by Project Manager James Wang, gave the 4th
District councilmembers
a chance to gain a better understanding of a lesser-known project in
their
district.
The
intersection at 75th Street
and State Line
Road previously had considerable congestion during peak traffic times.
To ease
traffic flows, construction crews have reconfigured the island in the
intersection, added turn lanes, and replaced the traffic signals. The
project
will reduce traffic congestion and increase safety for motorists.
Construction
on the project began in February 2006 and is
scheduled for completion in August. Construction costs are
approximately
$722,000, with partial funding for the project coming from the federal
government and the remainder split between the City of Kansas City, Mo.
and
Prairie Village
,
Ks. CIMO officials worked closely with
the City of
Prairie
Village
to coordinate schedules and payment agreements.
