Smokefree public education efforts recognized nationally
The City’s Smokefree Resolution Business Portfolio has received a national award from the National Public Health Information Coalition. The publication received a Gold Award in the brochures category of the awards competition.
The brochure was part of a public education campaign to help businesses promote smoking cessation. It was funded through a Tobacco Use Prevention Grant from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
The publication was a collaborative effort between the Health Department and the City Communications Division of the City Manager’s Office.
It was produced by Lorie Snyder and Bill Snook of the Health Department and Teresa Clark and Kim Morris of City Communications.
Also receiving a Gold Award was a protocol for regional news releases during emergencies. Don Pickard of the Health Department contributed in developing this protocol.
