Health Department holds special clinic hours, some free flu shots available
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department has received a new shipment of flu vaccine and has reopened its flu shot clinic. Flu shots for children and adults are available at the Health Department, 2400 Troost Ave., during regular clinic hours from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday.
To better accommodate the needs of Kansas Citians, the flu shot clinic will remain open until 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, 16 and 30. On those Thursdays, one free adult flu shot will be given with every flu shot received by a child eligible for a free flu shot.
The Health Department will bill Medicare or Missouri Medicaid for those who are eligible and show proof of coverage. For children who do not have health insurance or whose health insurance does not pay for a flu shot, there is no charge. Anyone not eligible for these programs will be charged $20; cash and credit cards only will be accepted for payment.
Getting a flu shot is the best way to prevent the flu or decrease the length and severity of symptoms.
