Health Department employees recognized by peers

Professional organizations recently recognized two City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department employees for their efforts and performance.

Bert Malone, acting deputy director, received the Annual Mentor Award from the Missouri Association of Local Public Health Agencies. Malone was recognized for his vision, leadership and support of public health. He serves as a role model who inspires and invigorates his public health colleagues statewide. Malone also influences citizens and elected officials with his positive view of public health.

Dr. Jinwen Cai received the Publication Award from the Missouri Public Health Association in recognition of his superior efforts in publishing his research on fetal and infant mortality rates. The research was published in the June 2005 edition of the "Maternal and Child Health Journal." This recognition comes for that effort, as well as numerous other publications Cai has written or co-written.
