Mission Possible emergency planning summit July 20

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department invites leaders of area faith communities to attend the 2007 Mission Possible Leadership Summit on July 20, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Nazarene Theological Seminary, 1700 E. Meyer Blvd.

“We hope this summit will open the doors of communication with leaders of all area faith groups in planning for emergencies,” said Bonnie Martin, regional emergency preparedness planner. “These leaders fill a vital role in influencing and advising the public on many issues that must be considered when preparing for a crisis.”

U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II will provide the keynote address. Other invited speakers include:

• Rear Admiral John Babb, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Region VII,

• Dr. Rex Archer, director of the City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department,

• Larry D. Jones, director of the City of Independence, Mo., Health Department,

• Dr. Paula Livingston, director of the Jackson County, Mo., Health Department

• and “Disaster D” Dee Smith of the Salvation Army.

Seating is limited to 450 for the morning addresses and 200 for the afternoon exercise.
