FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 5, 2008

Library District lane closures

The westbound lanes of 10th Street between Broadway and Wyandotte streets will be closed until mid-summer as work continues on streetscape work.

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Capital Improvements Management Office, a division of the City Manager’s Office, is managing the $1.4 million streetscape project, which includes the replacement of curbs and sidewalks, and the installation of decorative brick pavers, street lights and landscaping. This project continues the streetscape pattern that currently exists around the recently renovated Downtown Library, creating a contiguous, pedestrian-friendly corridor along 10th Street.

Drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians should be aware that area adjacent to active construction sites may expose them to dangerous conditions. People should use caution while traveling through these construction areas.

Media inquiries about this issue should be directed to Deanna Richards, communications specialist in the Capital Improvements Management Office, (816) 513-2757.
