FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 16, 2007

Intersection of 13th Street and Baltimore to close

On Monday, March 19 at 9 a.m., 13th Street will close from Main Street to just west of Baltimore Street, and Baltimore Street will close from 13th Street to one-half of a block south of 13th Street. These closures will remain in effect until early May.

The intersection of 13th Street and Baltimore Street will be closed to all traffic to accommodate the installation of new traffic signals, streetlights, and concrete pavement.

The 1200 block of Baltimore Street will remain open to northbound and southbound traffic for access the Clubhouse Lofts and the parking garage of One Kansas City Place.

During the closure, drivers are encouraged to use the following detours:

Northbound traffic should head east on 14th Street to Main Street

Westbound traffic on 13th Street should head north on Main Street, west on 11th Street, then south on Wyandotte Street.

All construction and repair work is done as long as the weather is favorable for such outdoor activity. Drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians are reminded to use caution in areas adjacent to active construction sites. Conditions in these areas can change rapidly, which may expose people to unexpected dangerous situations. A map highlighting these street closures is available at www.kcmo.org/cimo.nsf/web/dtconst.

Media inquiries and other requests for more information about this issue should be directed to Marny Burke, Capital Improvements Management Office, (816) 513-2749.
