CIMO project receives economic development award

The Kansas City Economic Development Corporation recognized the City of Kansas City, Mo., Fire Department and the City’s Capital Improvements Management Office with a Cornerstone Award for the renovation of Fire Station #36, which is located at 9903 Holmes Road in south Kansas City. Representatives from CIMO and the Fire Department received the award at Thursday’s celebration at the President Hotel in downtown Kansas City.

The Cornerstone Awards recognize the best of Kansas City’s economic development projects. More than 600 Cornerstone Awards have been given over the past two decades to celebrate projects ranging from Zona Rosa shopping center in the Northland to the construction of the Red Vine restaurant in the 18th and Vine Jazz District.

“We are extremely pleased to receive this honor,” said Eric Bosch, manager of the Architectural Services Section in CIMO. “Public safety is a central facet of economic development, and it’s gratifying that the EDC recognized our efforts to enhance the Southland’s economic landscape.”

Fire Station #36 replaced an older station at the corner of 95th Street and Holmes Road. The three-bay, two-story station serves as a battalion chief headquarters, bringing updated and expanded emergency response to south Kansas City.
