Health Director appointed to national board
Dr. Rex Archer, director of the City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department was appointed last week to the Public Health Accreditation Board.
The board focuses on developing a voluntary national accreditation for state and local public health departments. By setting standards and goals for improvement, accreditation can help health departments better impact the general health of the communities they protect.
“The public has long been served by hospitals and boards of education that are accredited,” Archer said. “It is just as important that they are served by accredited public health departments.”
The City’s Health Department was the first health department in Missouri to be accredited through the state’s accreditation process.
Dr. Archer has been selected to be a member of the first fully constituted board and will serve at least one two-year term.
