The Kansas City Complete Count Committee, appointed by Mayor Mark Funkhouser, is working to increase awareness of the 2010 U.S. Census in Kansas City by utilizing social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter. Many community-wide initiatives are being planned or are in process. Councilwoman Jan Marcason appointed to NLC steering committee
Councilwoman Jan Marcason, 4th District, has been appointed to the National League of Cities 2010 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee. Members of the committee develop policy recommendations on issues such as air quality, water quality, energy policy, national wetlands policy, noise control, and solid and hazardous waste management. New Markets Tax Credit Program funds three projects in Kansas City
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Community Development Entity has completed funding of three New Markets Tax Credit projects. The three transactions represent the first New Markets Tax Credit projects funded by the Community Development Entity, and improve the economic development process in the city. More.

City 2010-11 budget process continues Acting City Manager Troy Schulte presented the City's submitted 2010-11 fiscal year budget to the City Council at the Feb. 11 Business Session. The goals of the $1.3 billion proposed budget include structurally balancing the budget while protecting core basic services; repairing aging infrastructure; maintaining public safety; and addressing City Council priorities of maximizing revenue, increasing economic development and neighborhood preservation. As required by the City Charter, Mayor Mark Funkhouser also presented his Budget Letter with his analysis of the submitted budget.
