City fund to help water customers pay water and sewer bills
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department has established a fund to help qualifying Kansas City, Mo., water customers pay water and sewer bills. Customers needing assistance should call the United Way’s 211 hotline assistance program.
“This assistance program has been a goal of the City and the Water Services Department and we are very glad to be able to provide help to Kansas City residents,” said Bernardo Garcia Water Services Department director.
The funding is expected to help residents through April 2010. If the project is successful, the Department could expand the program into the next fiscal year.

The Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department maintains and operates water collection, processing and distribution systems, stormwater management and control systems, and waste water collection and processing systems for residential and business customers in Kansas City and for wholesale customers in the Kansas City region. Operation is funded entirely by fees charged to customers based on their use of products and services, not by taxes.
