Redistricting for the City of Kansas City, Mo.

The City Council, through the passage of Resolution No. 110514, directed
the City Manager to begin the process of redistricting the City’s six Council districts. The resolution calls for this process in a lawful manner based upon appropriate and accurate data reflecting the demographics of the community. The City has received the current official U.S. Census figures, and the City Manager is directed to follow the successful process utilized for the 2010 redistricting. The City Manager is also directed to submit to the Mayor and City Council no later than Oct. 15, 2011, no more than three alternatives for the redistricting of the City’s six Council districts.

To meet the goals of the above resolution, a Redistricting Advisory Committee has been formed and approved with the following committee members:

Keith Nelson - 1st district
John Fairfield - 2nd district
Shomari Benton - 3rd district
Steven Glorioso - 4th district
Stacey Daniels Young - 5th District
Eslun Tucker - 6th District
Cris Medina - Hispanic community representative.
