KCI Airport reports May traffic Tuesday, July 1, 2003
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that the Kansas City International Airport recorded 867,590 passengers arriving and departing through its gates in May, which represents a decrease of 12.2 percent from May 2008. Passenger boardings at KCI were down 13.8 percent, with a total of 443,674 during May. For the year to date, boardings at KCI totaled 1,888,861, a decrease of 17.3 percent from the same period last year.

Strategic plan for moving City offices announced Wednesday, June 18, 2003
Improving efficiency, customer service and accessibility to the public are the goals of a strategic plan to physically consolidate and reallocate office space within City Hall and other City facilities. A plan for implementing a domestic partner benefit program for City employees is being outlined today by City Manager Wayne Cauthen in a memo to the Mayor and City Council. The City Council passed a resolution April 24, instructing the City Manager to prepare the legislation to create a Domestic Partnership Registry and a plan to implement the benefit program May 1, 2004.

(Randall Group) will assist the City with grant requests and renewals. Manchester Trafficway Bridge Closure Tuesday, June 3, 2003
Public Works Department officials estimate that the Manchester Trafficway Bridge from Gardner to St. John will remain closed for the next 18-24 months. An inspection had revealed that a 125-foot portion of curbing, sidewalk and barrier curb has fallen off. As a precaution, the outside barrier curb and sidewalks on the bridge are being removed as part of an emergency contract.

Replacement strategy for retirement positions announced Tuesday, June 3, 2003
Seventeen of the 388 positions left vacant by the recent retirement incentive program will be the first to be restored under a plan announced today by City Manager Wayne Cauthen. The positions will be funded with the $1 million replacement pool that governs the replacement of all retirement positions supported by the general fund. Cauthen selected the positions upon review of the departmental strategic plans. The departments requested a total of 111 general fund supported positions be restored. The City of Kansas City, Mo., is taking steps to further assist citizens in the tornado-damaged areas of Kansas City. The steps are being taken as a result of the neighborhood meeting the City held Thursday, May 29, at Northland Neighborhoods, Inc. First District Council Members Deb Hermann and Bill Skaggs and Second District Council Member Bonnie Sue Cooper met with citizens to hear their concerns.
