City awarded $7.3 million to combat housing/foreclosure crisis Friday, September 26, 2008
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development today announced that the recently passed Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 will provide the City of Kansas City, Mo., with $7,323,734 in funding to help stabilize neighborhoods hit hard by foreclosures and sub-prime mortgages. The state of Missouri will receive $42,664,187, and the City will have the opportunity to access a portion of that money for the same purpose.

WSD Waterways Manager named to National Committee on Levee Safety Thursday, September 25, 2008
WSD Waterways Division Manager Karin Jacoby was appointed on September 16, 2008, by the Assistant Secretary of the Army, the Honorable John Paul Woodley, to serve on the National Committee on Levee Safety. The Committee is tasked with developing and presenting to Congress specific recommendations to improve levee safety, including a strategic plan for implementation of the program.

Council resolution highlights breast cancer awareness month Thursday, September 25, 2008
City Councilwoman Cathy Jolly, 6th District at large, will introduce a resolution at today’s City Council legislative session to recognize October as national breast cancer awareness month. Survey work for Arrowhead Transmission Main Phase 2 begins Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Surveyors will be working along North Oak from approximately 9 Highway to Vivion Road over the next several months gathering data for design of Phase 2 of the Arrowhead Transmission Main. Temporary lane closures will be necessary for the field crews to safely collect the needed information.
