Health Department acts to protect residents from Salmonella Wednesday, January 21, 2009
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department is taking steps to protect residents in response to the recent alerts by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration warning about possible Salmonella Typhimurium contamination in peanut butter products.

First red-light camera installation to be active Jan. 22 Thursday, January 15, 2009
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department today announced that installation is nearly complete on the City’s first red-light safety cameras. The safety cameras will be installed at the intersection of Southwest Trafficway and W. 39th Street and begin operation Jan. 22.

City names chief of staff for City Manager’s Office Monday, January 12, 2009
City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen has appointed former two-term City of Kansas City, Mo., City Councilman Charles (Chuck) A. Eddy as chief of staff for the City Manager’s Office. Eddy will begin his duties Jan. 14.

Trash pick-up delayed, City offices closed Jan. 19 Monday, January 12, 2009
In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Jan. 19, curbside trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day and City of Kansas City, Mo., offices will be closed. The 3-1-1 Action Center, a division of the City Manager's Office, will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Tow lot relocates to new, environmentally friendly facility Thursday, January 8, 2009
Beginning Jan. 12, the City of Kansas City, Mo., tow lot and administrative functions of the Tow Services Division will be located at 7750 E. Front St. The tow lot's previous address was 3901 Bennington Ave., and the administrative functions were at 6817 Stadium Drive.

City moves forward on projects, prepares for potential federal aid Wednesday, January 7, 2009
City of Kansas City, Mo., City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen today outlined a strategy to move forward on City-funded infrastructure projects, while ensuring a list of projects is ready to take advantage of any federal stimulus package. Cauthen also created the Ad Hoc Committee for Federal Stimulus Package, which will work to streamline processes involved in starting work on approved and pending projects.

Health Department and U.S. Census Bureau host job testing Jan. 7 Tuesday, January 6, 2009
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department has partnered with the U.S. Census Bureau to provide census job testing in Kansas City. The bureau will hold a press conference at 10 a.m. on Jan. 7 in the lower level of the Health Department, 2400 Troost Ave., which will be followed by an open house with information about the 2010 census and two sessions of employment testing for various bureau positions.

Youth Office seeks proposals for youth development program Monday, January 5, 2009
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Youth Advocacy Office, a division of the City Manager's Office, has issued a request for proposal for a youth development program targeted at computer-based development, personal development and crime prevention strategies for youth ages 10-17. City names acting court administrator Wednesday, December 31, 2008
Anthony L. Miller has been appointed as the acting court administrator for the Municipal Court of the City of Kansas City, Mo. Miller will take over duties Jan. 2 from Bernard Schneider, who is retiring after more than 26 years of service.
