City continues storm damage collection effort Friday, July 23, 2010
The City of Kansas City, Mo., continues to make progress with a special collection to remove woody debris created by a storm on July 11, in the area bounded by 95th Street to the north, Raytown Rd. to the east, 119th Street to the south and Blue River Rd. to the west. After the completion of the first week of collection, the area south of I-470 and east of U.S. Highway 71, and a portion of the area west of U.S. Highway 71 and south of I-435 have seen considerable improvements.

Residents advised about wastewater overflow into Buckeye Creek Friday, July 23, 2010
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources report a manhole overflow due to a grease blockage at 4611 NE Winn Rd. The overflow discharged into a storm drainage ditch that leads to Buckeye Creek upstream from Winnwood Lake. The discharge was discovered at 4 pm Thursday, July 22nd and the blockage was cleared at 4:47 pm. The City’s drinking water supply was not affected by this overflow.

I-470 ramp collapse impact on 87th Street project Wednesday, July 21, 2010
In an effort to accommodate the rerouting of traffic after the recent collapse of a ramp on Interstate 470 near the Three Trails Crossing, the City of Kansas City, Missouri’s Capital Project Office, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, has closed a portion of 87th Street. Motorists traveling southbound on I-435 exiting onto 87th Street will be rerouted to northbound I-435. Motorists will not be able to travel east or west on 87th Street from this location.

KCI Airport Terminal B Roadwork Slated for Next Two Weekends Tuesday, July 20, 2010
Work is underway on the Terminal B roadway system, medians, bus shelters and garage pedestrian tunnels at Kansas City International Airport. The $2.8 million project is nearing completion and the last key construction activities need to be accomplished. Upcoming milling and paving will require the closure of traffic lanes and access to some areas of the terminal curb and commercial medians. To minimize inconvenience to customers, this work will be done in large sections during off-peak time over the next two weekends. At times traffic may be congested. KCI Airport users are urged to allow extra time and patience when using the airport during this time. Signs, Airport Police and other personnel will be on hand to aid and direct customers.

City revises storm damage collection guidelines Tuesday, July 13, 2010
The City of Kansas City, Mo., has relaxed the normal guidelines for the size of leaf and brush material it will collect during the special collection of woody debris announced for the area bounded by 95th Street to the north, Raytown Rd. to the east, 119th Street to the south and Blue River Rd. to the west. During this special collection, though still preferred, it is not mandatory that woody debris placed curbside be cut into sections four feet or less in length. The special pickup will begin Monday, July 19 at 7 a.m.
