Slight trash delays anticipated due to winter weather Monday, January 10, 2011
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department’s Solid Waste Division announced Monday, Jan. 10 that trash and recycling collections are running approximately a half day behind schedule due to inclement weather. Residents are advised to still put out their trash on their scheduled day, but to be aware that it may be collected one day late.

Phases I and II of City Snow Ordinance implemented Monday, January 10, 2011
The City of Kansas City, Mo., implemented Phase I and II of the City Snow Ordinance on Monday, Jan. 10 at 10:30 a.m. Phase I of a winter storm watch is issued when the streets are slick. During this time, drivers will be ticketed if they get stuck and block traffic on a major thoroughfare. In Phase II of a winter storm, cars parked on designated snow routes will be ticketed two hours after the phase is implemented.

In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, Jan. 17, curbside trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day and City of Kansas City, Mo., offices, including the 3-1-1 Action Center, will be closed.

City mourns the loss of Firefighter Richard Paul Friday, January 7, 2011
The City of Kansas City, Mo. wishes to acknowledge the passing of Richard Paul KCFD and expresses its appreciation for his many years of service. Paul, a fire apparatus operator, suffered a medical emergency this morning during his annual KCFD physical. He was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital, where he died.
