Public health meetings on Dec. 6 and 19 invite community feedback

The City of Kansas City, Mo., will host two additional community meetings on public health in the City’s Southland. The first meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s Methodist Church, 9420 James A. Reed Road. The second meeting will be Monday, Dec. 19 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Hillcrest Community Center, 10401 Hillcrest Road.

Health Department representatives seek comments from the community about health needs and healthcare concerns in the Hickman Mills and Ruskin Heights area. City Council members John Sharp and Scott Taylor will also be present.

“Community members are encouraged to come and share their concerns with us,” said Sixth District at large Councilman Scott Taylor. “Addressing health issues is important both for the people in the community and for community as a whole.”

“We know many south Kansas City residents don’t have access to health care. This hearing will allow them to tell us specifically how we can help them get access to affordable and timely health care,” said Sixth District Councilman John Sharp.

Any person with a disability who desires reasonable accommodation to attend this meeting may contact the City’s 311 Action Center at 311 or 816-513-1313, or for TTY, 816-513-1889, or by email at
