Health Department now offers pregnancy testing
The City of Kansas City, Mo., now offers pregnancy testing in two Health Department clinics. Pregnancy tests may be obtained at no cost through the Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic when the patron is tested for STDs or through the Adult and Travel Immunization Clinic at a cost of $20. Both clinics are located at 2400 Troost Ave.
The STD clinic is open on a walk-in basis for those who desire testing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:45-11:30 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. The clinic is also open by appointment on Mondays through Fridays for those with symptoms or a known exposure to an STD. To schedule an appointment, call 816-513-6379.
The Adult and Travel Immunization Clinic provides pregnancy testing by appointment for a fee of $20 during regular clinic hours, 8-11:45 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays. To schedule an appointment with this clinic, call 816-513-6128.
“We are always looking for ways to expand our clinical services,” said Lesha Dennis, manager of the Sexual Transmitted Diseases program. “We regularly receive requests for pregnancy tests, and now we can provide that service to the public. Plus, using our STD clinic allows us to run a full battery of tests in one setting.”
