City’s Office of Civic and Community Engagement hosts college fair
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Office of Civic and Community Engagement will host the Greater KC College Experience college fair on Thursday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Sprint Center, 1407 Grand Blvd.
The Greater KC College Experience is free to all colleges and universities and open to all high school juniors and seniors. Participating students who visit with at least 10 schools will be entered into a drawing to win an iPod, iPad, laptop computer or college scholarships onsite. Financial aid and college writing essay workshops will be held as well. The Office of Civic and Community Engagement will sponsor up to three buses per school for student transportation.
“Far too often young people in our community do not reach their full potential,” said Mayor Sly James. “It is my goal to establish Kansas City in the forefront of a national movement to reverse that trend.”
Colleges and universities interested in meeting with thousands of students from the metropolitan area must register at www.kcmo.org/engagekc. High schools must also register in order to attend the fair: www.kcmo.org/engagekc.
The Office of Civic and Community Engagement is welcoming donations and volunteers from companies to help support the event.
