Hearing scheduled for FY2011 TIGER funding
The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee of the City of Kansas City, Mo., City Council will hold a hearing Thursday, Sept. 1 at 8:45 a.m. at City Hall, 414 E. 12th St. The hearing is regarding FY 2011 Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) funding opportunities for projects located in or affecting Kansas City, Mo.
The committee will look for transportation projects that meet the criteria for FY 2011 TIGER grants. Eligible applicants include, in part, state and local governments as well as transit agencies and metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs).
FY2011 TIGER funding will put $527 million into transportation projects. This federal program is designed to let states, local governments and regions compete to show how their project will have significant impact on the nation.
The Federal Government’s primary selection criteria for FY2011 TIGER grants include long-term outcomes and job creation and economic stimulus. The secondary selection criteria include innovation and partnership.
