North Brighton celebrates construction completion

The City of Kansas City, Mo., hosted a ribbon-cutting event Monday, July 18, at 4 p.m. to celebrate the completion of road construction. The event was held on North Brighton Avenue by Eagle Heights Baptist Church.

First District Councilman Scott Wagner and First District Councilman at Large Dick Davis joined neighborhood residents at the dedication event to show their support for the $10 million improvement project.

“The new roadway is a step forward for Kansas City, promoting health, safety and a sense of community,” said Councilman Wagner. “Not only has the project made North Brighton a much more efficient roadway, it also makes the neighborhood a more family-friendly environment.”

Since the completion of the project, North Brighton Avenue has been widened from two lanes to four lanes. New curbs, gutters and sidewalks were added, as well as street lights, bicycle lanes and an enclosed storm sewer system.

“I’m proud of the tireless effort each organization put in to complete this project,” said Councilman Davis. “The roadway was built for sustainability, with great features. We hope this construction project will be followed by many sustainable projects in the future for our community.”

The North Brighton Avenue construction project was managed by the City’s Capital Projects Department.

Media inquiries and other requests for information about this project should be directed to Sean Demory, Capital Projects Department, at 816-513-0059 or Sarah Boyd, Capital Projects Department, at 816-513-2837.
