HUD launches Emergency Homeowners’ Loan Program in KC
441 local homeowners to benefit
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Robert J. Mohart Center hosted a press conference on Tuesday, July 12 to launch the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Emergency Homeowners’ Loan Program in the Kansas City area. EHLP is designed help homeowners who have experienced a reduction in income or are at risk of foreclosure due to involuntary unemployment or underemployment due to economic conditions or a medical condition.
EHLP eligible homeowners may receive up to $50,000 in emergency assistance. The program is intended to assist 441 families in the metropolitan Kansas City area. Pre-applications for the program are due by July 22.
Individuals interested in learning more about the program are welcome to attend informational workshops where they can submit a pre-application at the Robert J. Mohart Center on Thursday, July 14 and Friday, July 15. The workshops are scheduled to run between 2 and 5 p.m. both days and will be conducted by the Greater Kansas City Housing Information Center. The Robert J. Mohart Center is located at 3200 Wayne Avenue.
EHLP applications packets will be made available at the Robert J. Mohart Center’s business office. Information about EHLP is also available online at www.findEHLP.org.
