Mayor and Council develop Vision Statement
The City of Kansas City, Mo.’s Mayor Sly James and City Council developed a Vision Statement during a recent retreat, as they prepared for the next four years of City governance. The statement provides a reference point that the City’s elected officials can draw from as they work on behalf of all residents to advance the interests of the community.
“There is great confidence that this joint vision will produce results that live up to the words that have been expressed,” said Mayor Sly James. “While we know there will be times ahead that challenge us, this brief Vision Statement will provide the proper perspective to guide us in a manner that respects all.
The Vision Statement reads as follows:
The mayor, council and staff, together with community partners,
strive to achieve a common vision to make Kansas City best.
We employ innovative strategies to:
effectively and efficiently provide customer-focused services;
improve public safety; and develop sustainable, healthy communities
where all prosper.
We lead by
measuring progress and celebrating success.
