City acknowledges voter support and importance of stewardship
In recognition of the overwhelming passage of the continuation of the Kansas City Earnings Tax this past Tuesday, the City of Kansas City, Mo., is expressing appreciation for the confidence voters expressed with their right to vote.
“We understand the trust that has been placed in us and the importance of being good stewards with the public’s investment in City government,” said Interim City Manager Troy Schulte. “By maintaining this funding source we can now focus our energies on making Kansas City the best place to live, work and play.”
As part of the City’s efforts to position itself as the nation moves forward with economic recovery during a period of difficult recessionary times, Kansas City has put in place an economic development incentive policy; reduced the backlog of incomplete capital projects; added to the City’s rainy day funds; improved important City service delivery, such as snow removal; slowed rising solid waste costs and increased recycling participation; reduced more than 500 staff positions; and balanced the City budget.
