City’s leaf and brush drop-off sites reopen March 19

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Leaf and Brush Drop-off Sites will reopen Saturday, March 19 at 8 a.m. after being closed for the winter. The centers are located at 1815 N. Chouteau Trafficway (just south of the Missouri river) and 10301 Raytown Road (south of Interstate 470).They will be open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. or sunset, depending on which is earlier.

Residents may dispose leaves, yard waste and brush (including tree trimmings) at the centers. Leaves may be brought in paper yard-waste bags and should be sealed with masking tape only.

The drop-off site rules are as follows:

    Proof of residency using a valid driver's license or state-issued ID is required.

    Drop-offs from commercial enterprises will not be accepted.

    Grandview and Raytown residents may use the sites with a voucher purchased from their respective municipalities.

    Only leaves, yard waste and brush (including tree trimmings) are accepted. Grass clippings are not accepted.

    You may bring leaves in paper yard-waste bags. If you seal your bags, use masking tape only. Do not use wire, duct tape or other plastic tape. If you bring plastic bags, please empty them and take them back with you.

    You may be asked to empty bags to show that there is no trash.

    Sites are attended. Sites may be under camera or surveillance when not in operation. If you see anyone dumping at these sites, please report date, time and description of vehicle and people to the Action Center, 816-513-1313 or 311.

Residents needing to dispose of leaves and brush may also utilize the City’s curbside Leaves and Brush Collection Program. The spring collection will take place beginning in April.
