City soliciting contractors for new Job Order Contracting system
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Housing and Community Development Department, Property Preservation Division, Weatherization Program, is soliciting current and new contractors to bid through its new Job Order Contracting (JOC) system.
A Job Order Contract is a competitively bid, firm fixed-price indefinite-quantity contract. The JOC system is a yearly bid system for contractors to bid on all applicable tasks associated with the weatherization of a home.
"Getting our City's homes properly insulated and weatherized is an important part of keeping Kansas City an affordable and green city," said Mayor Mark Funkhouser. "We're trying to make the process as easy as possible for our weatherization and mechanical contractors. We urge contractors to bid and take on a role in this important project."
This system will include two separate bid solicitations. One solicitation will be for weatherization contractors whose tasks include, but are not limited to, air sealing, insulation and minor repairs. The other will include mechanical contractors whose tasks will include, but are not limited to, furnace repair or replacements, water heater repair or replacements, air conditioning repair or replacements and gas piping repairs.
Information can be obtained at the solicitation outreach to discuss Job Order Contracting on Monday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Southeast Community Center, 4201 E 63rd St. The mandatory pre-bid conference will be held Thursday, Feb 17 at 1 p.m. at the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center, 4750 Troost Ave.
Minority and women business enterprises and section 3 contractors are encouraged to attend.
