Queen new City Treasurer Tuesday, May 25, 2010
The City of Kansas City, Mo., has announced that Tammy Queen has been appointed City Treasurer and assumed the duties and responsibilities as the custodian of all City funds. This includes accounting for $1.3 billion in annual cash receipts, a debt portfolio valued at $2.4 billion, $145 million in annual real estate tax and special assessment collections, and a cash management investment portfolio valued at more than $850 million.

KCI Airport passenger traffic up 3.0 percent in April Monday, May 24, 2010
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that Kansas City International Airport recorded 794,969 passengers arriving and departing through its gates in April, which represents an increase of 3.09 percent from April 2009. Passenger boardings at KCI were up 3.3 percent, with a total of 400,224 during April. For the year to date, boardings at KCI totaled 1,468,799, an increase of 1.6 percent from the same period last year.

U.S. Department of Justice files consent decree and complaint against City of Kansas City for sewer overflows Tuesday, May 18, 2010
After several years of rigorous negotiations, the U.S. Department of Justice is filing today with the Federal District Court a complaint against the City of Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO) and an accompanying consent decree relating to the City’s sewer overflows. The consent decree embodies the settlement that has been negotiated over these past several years. Filing the complaint is a necessary step in the consent decree adoption process.

Community Resource Fair Monday, May 17, 2010

Free Paint available for eligible City homeowners Friday, May 14, 2010
Warmer weather signals the start of many things – one of which is the City of Kansas City, Mo., Paint Program. “This program gives eligible homeowners, who do the required work to properly prepare a home to be painted, high-quality exterior paint at no cost,” said Bob Jackson, manager of the Property Preservation Division of the Housing and Community Development Program.” Eligible applicants must complete an application to receive paint, primer, caulking and other supplies related to the painting of their home (total cost of the paint supplies will not exceed $500).
