    KCI Airport passenger traffic up 3.2 percent in November

    The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that Kansas City International Airport recorded 821,481 passengers arriving and departing through its gates in November, which represents an increase of 3.2 percent from November 2009. The 3.2 percent gain marks the largest year-over-year increase at KCI in twelve months. Passenger boardings at KCI were up 3.9 percent, with a total of 410,833 during November. For the year to date, boardings at KCI totaled 4,567,750, an increase of 1.5 percent from the same period last year.

    The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for November was 198. Service was offered to 48 nonstop markets. There was an average of 38,796 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day, up 0.6 percent from last year.

    Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were up 6.3 percent in November. For the year to date, air cargo at KCI is down 1.7 percent from the same period last year. Air freight handled at KCI during November amounted to over 15 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year increase of 7.2 percent. Air mail for November was down 15.5 percent from November 2009. The all-cargo carriers reported 4 daily departures for November.
