City debuts new television program
The City of Kansas City, Mo., will begin airing “The Weekly Report” on its cable television channel, beginning Friday, June 11. This new program provides news and insight about the programs and services provided by City Departments. As part of the Kansas City Cable Government-TV2 (KCCG-TV2) program line-up, “The Weekly Report” will air at 8 a.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. daily.
Produced as a cooperative project by City departments and the City Communications Office, most of the program’s content is created by department public information officers using flip-style video cameras that make it possible to inexpensively and quickly put together story ideas. The City Communications Office edits the stories into a finished program.
“Kansas City is doing a lot of good things, and this program will help us tell that story,” said Mayor Mark Funkhouser. “I encourage all our residents to watch “The Weekly Report” and stay involved in how city government really works.”
“The use of new inexpensive video technology to inform residents about the programs and services that the City offers is a great way to maximize our communications dollars and expand our ability to keep the public informed,” said Troy Schulte, Acting City Manager. “We are excited about the program’s potential to serve the community.”
The first airing of “The Weekly Report” includes information from the following departments: Fire, Public Works, Health, Parks and Recreation, Water Services and Aviation. Viewers will find a mixture of stories that keep them informed and aware of what’s going on with City programs and services.
In the coming weeks, “The Weekly Report” will also be available on-line for residents that are not able to received KCCG-TV2.
