Committee to hear Ordinance No. 100346
to reduce break-ins for new home construction
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Safety and Neighborhoods Committee will hear testimony on - Building Code Chapter 18, for the construction of new homes, which may significantly reduce the number of break-ins. The meeting will be held April 28 at 10 a.m. on the 26th floor of City Hall, 414 E. 12th St.
Many of the surrounding municipalities such as Overland Park, Lenexa and Lee’s Summit have similar ordinances. Overland Park was one of the first municipalities to make these changes and has seen a decrease in break-ins since.
Councilwoman Cathy Jolly, 6th District at large, and chairwoman of the committee, is the sponsor. The Committee members will view a demonstration of how the new code changes will create a more secure structure.
Police officers from both Kansas City, Mo. and Overland Park, Kan. will testify and answer questions.
